The scale and visual impact of Untitled (Shoulder Piece) demands attention while also boasting negative space that ultimately draws the viewer's attention to the wearer. The design of the piece resting on the wearer's shoulders and curving forward around the upper arms is meant to evoke both a sense of refuge and dauntlessness. The presence of the wearer activates this piece and completes the story, creating a symbiotic relationship between the piece and the wearer.
To finish the surface, I highlighted details of this piece by hand-painting specific elements. The color variation creates unity among similar design elements, organizing the density for the viewer and highlighting repeated elements. By choosing to focus on scale, density, and surface, I further developed my ability to highlight inspiring design elements of commonplace natural objects.
