Untitled (Necklace)
2022
In this piece the delicate hand fabricated patinated copper wire lines follow the contours of the wearer's body with intention and regard. The foundation of the visual language in this piece stems from details in a hydrangea seedpod reflected in other natural geometric elements. This piece explores transitions between shapes while considering chain connections that allow movement in the piece and soldered wire connections giving the piece static moments as well. The delicate lines of this piece, which still possess structural integrity, are made possible by the strength and malleability of metal. The use of oxidation to unify the surface draws the viewer's attention to both the lines of the piece and the presence of the wearer.
