This copper bracelet’s visual language, inspired by a detail I noticed on a hydreana seedpod, blossoms on the top of the wrist and gently wraps under to secure it on the body. To me, seedpods are found in tension between life and death. They exist after the death of the flower yet hold the potential to be planted and yield another year of colorful blooms. With enough nutrients, and sometimes against all odds, a sprout springs forth. This moment in the lifecycle of the plant gives me great inspiration on a creative and personal level. The blossoming and opening design paired with the protruding elements captures the hopeful trepidation I have felt in moments of rebuilding or pivoting, no matter how big or small. The presence of the wearer reminds me that I am an active participant in creating an environment for those seeds of hope to sprout anew.
