Linear Hydrangea Necklace

Using textured and polished metal surfaces, I worked directly in the metal to find an arrangement of links that activated the shapes and engaged with the silhouette of the body. The low profile construction and integrated connections of the piece allow for movability and comfortable wear while its textured and polished components create a visual organization and depth. The arrangement of these shapes is informed by both my previous exploration in organic growth and natural systems combined with my recent exploration in music composition and the layering of instruments, harmony and melody to create depth and surprise. In my work, I look forward to exploring these concepts in depth through the creation of metalsmithed pieces. By gaining a deeper understanding of musical structure I hope to capture moments of activated rest punctuated by explosive crescendo within my work.
